About Us

The A Sapling to a Family Tree (STAFT) was founded in 2020 by Lynda Keenan with the goal of helping those who want to research genealogy. Our researchers are professional genealogists with 10-30 years each of research experience. 

Each genealogist has their own area of expertise based on their

education and are able research throughout North America.

 

We have genealogist that have been educated in and/or are certified in Research Methodology, American Records (including immigration and Land), Canadian Vital Records and census, German Records, DNA, Genetic Genealogy, and more. 

Our Mission:

To offer research and analysis expertise to those in need of assistance with genealogical problems or inquiries. We utilize the most current genealogical standards and resources available. Lynda Keenan

Founder, PLCGS

Lynda graduated from Eastern Washington University with a BA in Biology. About Thirty years ago, she began what has become her passion and now her career: genealogy and genetic research. In 1996 Lynda took a 6 week Genealogy Course from Waubonsee Community College in Illinois. Her research has extended beyond her own family, to others that have been searching for their families. Upon graduating from the National Institute of Genealogical Studies, Lynda holds advanced certificates in Methodology, American records, and DNA and Genetic Genealogy. She also holds certificates in English and Wales records

Currently Lynda is teaching courses for local genealogical societies, libraries and Law Enforcement on genealogy research and DNA and participates in several Surname projects.  Lynda is a past President of the Eastern Washington Genealogical Society and over the past several years Lynda led a monthly genealogy refocus group covering a variety of topics. 

 

She founded Saplings to a Family Tree in June 2020 and works with private clients providing services based on the clients genealogical needs.
